Driftwood

Cramming as much action possible into one scene. Photo by Jesse Herndon.

I directed a workshop of Driftwood for Opera America IDEA Grant recipient Gregory Jafari VanAcker, at the National Opera Center. Despite what this paragraph implies, Driftwood is not an opera, but instead a big, giddy, Mesopotamian comedy about the original flood myth (sense a theme in my pieces?) and how stories get told and re-told. Thank you to our wonderful, all-SWANA cast and crew, Adam Siddiqui Shaukat, Atra Asdou, Amr Kotb, Ari Derambakhsh, Justin Ahdoot, Sade Namei, Saum Seyed Eskandani, Xavier Clark, and Zuhdi Boueri!
