Pistachio + The Worms

At Astoria’s 31st Avenue Open Street. Photo by Jude Prager.

Watch out Sesame Street… as a NYC Department of Transportation Public Space Programmer, I am directing and acting in Pistachio + the Worms, a bilingual children’s play in English and Spanish that teaches kids how to compost, filled with silly songs and garbage monsters (me). I could write a thousand words about this play, written by Emilie Gay and directed by Annika Prager, and how children’s theater is a form of radical, critical pedagogy in pursuit of climate liberation, public space reclamation, and resolute joy, but you’ll have to look through these photos. So far, we’ve been hired to perform with a rotating cast on Astoria’s 31st Avenue Open Street, Flatbush Development Corporation’s Open Streets, and PS Family NYC in Bushwick. Shoot me an email if you’d like us to come perform on your open street, for your school, or children’s party!
